Universal Pictures has released the Japanese theatrical teaser for its upcoming fantasy oriented film, Snow White and the Huntsman.
While the American trailers have been very character focused, this trailer follows the Japanese style of combining strong visuals from the film with heavy music, and little exposition.
We get a look at a few scenes here that we haven’t seen before. There is the poisoned apple (which I actually wasn’t expecting to make an appearance), a depiction of the queen using her youth-draining powers on a hapless victim, and several other action sequences which make the film look a lot more fun than previous trailers have led me to believe.
The more I see of both of the Snow White adaptations on their way, the more I think that this will be the more compelling of the two, despite what will likely be a lackluster performance from the mopey-faced star.
The official synopsis of Snow White and the Huntsman is thus:
In the epic action-adventure “Snow White and the Huntsman,” Kristen Stewart (“Twilight”) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, “Thor”) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
The film, which also stars Sam Claflin, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Graham, Ray Winstone, and Lily Cole hits theaters on June 1, 2012.
