While Saturday Night Live is still going strong in the ratings after all these years, there’s still many of us that love the old days of the show with the original cast, which included John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtin, and Garrett Morris.
Now you can enjoy the good old days of SNL with SNL Vintage, which NBC will be airing on Saturdays at 10. The first episode that will air is when Richard Pryor was the guest host, an episode that made NBC executives tremble with fear because they were afraid he’d curse on the air. (A delay was set up to make sure no accidental four, eight, or twelve letter words slipped out, which as far as I can recall, never happened.)
NBC has launched SNL Vintage to help celebrate the show’s impending 40th anniversary, which is coming next year. Entertainment Weekly informs us that a special celebrating that anniversary will air February 15, 2015. The Vintage SNL shows will also include more recent vintage, like the episode Christopher Walken guest hosted, which will air again on October 4. (Yes, this is the episode with the “More cowbell” sketch.)
