Well this isn’t a shock…The fifth season debut of Walking Dead still hasn’t begun, but it got a strong review in Variety, and now the industry trade reports that Dead will have a sixth season.
The news came on Tuesday, October 7, and AMC said in a statement, “In advance of Sunday’s season five premiere, AMC proudly confirms a sixth season order of this extraordinary series…There’s plenty more Dead ahead…”
Variety tells us that Dead remains the number one show on TV in the 18-49 age range, and it is still the highest rated show in cable TV history. There have also been reports that there will be a spin-off show that will take place in the same Dead universe, but with all new characters in a different zombie plagued area.
As Robert Kirkman, who created the show, said, “There are many corners of The Walking Dead universe that remain unseen in the shadows. Being given the opportunity to shine a light into those corners and see what lurks out there is an absolute thrill.”
The fifth season of The Walking Dead debuts this Sunday, October 12, at 9 P.M., PST, on AMC.
