Marvel is hitting a major critical mass right now, with The Avengers Age of Ultron about to hit theaters, and Daredevil getting great reactions on Netflix. There are a number of Marvel big screen flicks in the works for the rest of the decade, including Captain Marvel, and script plans are currently underway.
As The Hollywood Reporter tells us, the powers that be want Nicole Perlman, who co-wrote Guardians of the Galaxy, and Meg LeFauve, who co-wrote the next Pixar film, Inside Out. Much like they tried to get a woman director for Wonder Woman, Marvel wants Marvel to have a woman’s touch, and indeed, the Reporter tells us that Marvel specifically wants female writers for this one.
Apparently Marvel had a screenwriting program, which Perlman attended, and she’s also writing a comic book for Marvel, Gamora.
Captain Marvel has a release date of July 6, 2018, which means that we could actually have a female president in power for two years before we get a full blown female superhero movie. While many were hoping for a Black Widow movie, and Wonder Woman is currently in limbo, we’re looking forward to seeing if Captain Marvel can make the big screen superhero game equal for both sexes.
