If you’re following the development of the Doctor Strange movie, it’s on Marvel’s slate of Phase Three movies, which will also include the next Avengers flicks, and the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy. The most crucial piece of casting, the title role, is set, with Benedict Cumberbatch in place.
But there’s another important piece of casting that is now getting nailed down, possibly the Ancient One, the good Doctor’s mentor, and The Wrap tells us Chiwetel Ejiofor from 12 Years a Slave should be playing the role.
Collider reported that Morgan Freeman was being considered for this role, but you don’t have to be old to play an Ancient One, and Cumberbatch was in 12 Years as well, making this an interesting reunion, going from one of the most acclaimed films in recent memory, to arguably the most anticipated Marvel adaptation in memory.
Doctor Strange is currently scheduled for release on November 4, 2016.
