Apple has debuted a 27-inch display designed to be used as a tricked-out docking station for Thunderbolt-enabled MacBooks.
The monitor features a FaceTime camera, high quality audio, along with Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire 800, USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt ports.
The display also boasts a thin aluminum and glass enclosure, along with a MagSafe connector to charge a MacBook Pro or Air.
As expected, the monitor supports DisplayPort tech for high-res displays and works with existing adapters for HDMI, DVI and VGA.
Additional specs include:
- Three USB 2.0 ports.
- Single Thunderbolt port can be used to daisy chain five additional devices.
- Ambient light sensor automatically adjusts brightness.
- Built-in 2.1 speaker system (49 watts).

The new Thunderbolt display will be available within the next 60 days for a cool $1,000. Note: The display requires a Mac with a Thunderbolt I/O port.
