Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) kicks off on June 6 with a keynote address by none other than Steve Jobs himself. And let me tell you, this one seems like its going to be quite memorable.
Indeed, Jobs is set to unveil Apple’s next-gen mobile and desktop software, including Mac OS X Lion, iOS 5 and iCloud – which Cupertino describes as an upcoming “cloud services offering.”
iCloud is expected to replace Apple’s existing MobileMe cloud service, which offers e-mail and syncing of contacts and calendars.
Of course, another long-awaited component of iCloud is likely to be a music streaming service that allows users to access their songs and albums across multiple devices.
According to AppleInsider, iCloud will “scan iTunes libraries and mirror them with Apple’s own high-quality audio files stored in the cloud.”
Unsurprisingly, both iOS 5 and OS X Lion are thought to boast “deep connectivity” with the new iCloud platform.
Sounds sweet, right!?
But what about the next iPhone – will it be making an appearance at WWDC 2011?
Well, unfortunately, probably not. Rumor has it that Apple’s fifth-generation iPhone will most likely surface sometime later this year at a subsequent event.
