Apparently someone can develop a game, tweak it to run on a console device, get it licensed by Microsoft, and publish it to the Xbox Live Marketplace…in a shorter amount of time than it takes to plug an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
“Crisis in the Gulf” isn’t just used for fancy news graphics anymore; it’s also the title of a $1 downloadable game, created by independent studio Super Boise.
Its main setup is a tower defense style of play, with players equipping everything from torpedoes to lasers to blast away the effects of the leak.
The game’s description reads, “The Government and Oil Corporations have failed to stop the oil leak. Clearly they haven’t tried tower defense!! Do you have what it takes to cap the leak?”
Along the top of the screen is a CNN-style news ticker that streams a variety of parody headlines.
