If you’re a metal-head like me, chances are pretty good you know the short movie Heavy Metal Parking Lot, where a group of filmmakers went around the lot at a Judas Priest concert in 1986, filming the fans being doofy, and it became an underground sensation. A lo of metalheads found it condescending and offensive, I always found it hilarious, and now Robert Trujilo of Metallica has created a cartoon variation called ‘Tallica Parking Lot.
As Blabbermouth.net tells us, Trujillo was inspired by seeing the incredible fan gatherings in the parking lots of their gigs. “No matter where in the world you were, there was always interesting people, interesting things going on, and I felt this was a great opportunity to bring that to life and share it with the world.”
Trujillo added that the idea came to him at 4 in the morning, and he wrote it out over the course of a week. “It almost became an addiction; it just kept coming in.”
We’re sure this cartoon is done in the right spirit, and if some fans don’t like it, they definitely need to get a sense of humor transplant. Having no sense of humor is what made a lot of these bands targets for Beavis and Butthead, and after all, it’s only rock n’ roll, you can’t take this stuff too seriously.
