Most of us know Morgan Freeman’s wonderful acting, as well as his distinctive voice on documentaries, but what you may not know about him is he’s fascinated with aliens and astronomy. In fact, his dream project is a movie adaptation of the famous sci-fi novel Rendezvous with Rama, written by Arthur C. Clarke, which still has yet to get made.
Now the Hollywood Reporter tells us there will be a special on the Science Channel, Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman, which will air on March 5. This special will discuss whether God is an alien concept, meaning do other creature worship God, or is it a phenomenon strictly known to human kind?
This special will be part of the Science Channel’s “Are We Alone” week, and as Freeman told the Reporter, “Any discussion about aliens is supposition. It’s all fantasy because you have to try and imagine that out of the billions of galaxies, each containing billions and billions of stars, many of which have their own systems, there has to be other life forms. Whether they are like us or not – the question is, if they are, say, millions of years older than our civilization, what have they learned? And if we ever made contact with them, what would we learn?”
Interestingly enough, Freeman has starred in three Batman films for Christopher Nolan, but he won’t be starring in Nolan’s next film, Interstellar, which is about wormholes. Freeman also told Hitfix he’s still trying to get Rama made after all these years, and it certainly has a lot of the same themes he will explore in Through the Wormhole.
