NBC will be running a new pilot from Supernatural creator Eric Kripke and popular writer/producer JJ Abrams.
The new series is an “epic adventure thriller” called Revolution, but that’s all we know about it so far, other than that it will probably be fantasy or sci-fi, and it will probably be awesome.
Abrams has served as a producer and writer for some of the most popular television shows and films of the last decade, including Alias, Lost, Star Trek (the new one), and the recent Super 8.
He recently finished working on the new Mission Impossible film, and his popular TV series Fringe is entering its fourth season this year.
He’s also committed himself to helming a sequel to 2009’s Star Trek film. Plus, he’s got two other TV series – Alcatraz and Person of Interest – which will be debuting their pilot episodes in a few weeks.
I can only imagine that this is a huge workload. Of course, both of his new series might not stick around, in fact, he might be counting on one of them to fail due to the fickle nature of TV executives and audiences, leaving him more time.
This isn’t all Kripke is doing this season either. In addition to the continuing success of Supernatural, he is working on a television adaptation of DC Comic’s Deadman, which depicts the story of a man who is forced to police the actions of the recently deceased.
Revolution will likely be part of the 2012 pilot season.
