ViewSonic is showcasing a “dual-OS” tablet powered by Intel’s Oak Trail processor at Computex 2011.
The device runs Windows 7 as its base OS, but is loaded with Bluestacks virtualization software, which allows Android and related apps to happily co-exist within an x86 Wintel environment.
“This tablet, powerful in both hardware and software, is ideal for users who wish to have a combination of entertainment and professional needs,” explained ViewSonic rep Alan Chang.
“It allows for an instantaneous switch between the two OSes without turning off the tablet – Android for simple tasks such as Web browsing and Windows 7 for business applications.”
Additional specs include a 10.1 inch display, 1.5 GHz Atom Z670 processor, 32GB of storage, WiFi/Bluetooth/3G and a 3500mAh battery.
ViewSonic is also demoing its ViewPad 7x, a 7-inch Honeycomb tablet based on Nvidia’s dual-core Tegra processor.
The device weighs only 380g and boasts front and back cameras, a capacitive 10-point multi-touch display, an HDMI port, DLNA support and HSPA+ connectivity.
