Sure, faking a screamin’ Tweet or posting a phony status update may not be as bad as well (*ahem*), faking other things. And as you may have guessed, there are legions of people who are more than ready to do so to boost their collective online images.
According to a recent survey conducted by Telstra, one in 10 respondents routinely fake their locations, while a third of Gen-Ys admitted to downloading funky iPhone apps just to be seen by others.
Meanwhile, a similar number said they frequently attempted to appear witty by shamelessly passing off stolen re-tweets and Facebook status updates as their own.
“I’ve even stolen icons and images that friends have made and used them on my own Facebook,” a 24-year old Australian woman told News.Com.Au.
