Software giant Microsoft will open a store in Scottsdale, Arizona to coincide with the launch of Windows 7, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The journal says that the large store will sell laptops, Microsoft software, mobile phones and Xbox 360 consoles, as well as other goods it’s involved in.
And, the report continues, it will open another store in a mall in Mission Viejo and roll out even more if it’s satisfied with the results from its retail adventures.
Apple has multiple stores but doesn’t have an existing and large network of retailers. Microsoft has multiple partners including retail stores and they aren’t likely to be too happy with competing with a supplier.
Earlier this year Microsoft vowed to fight it out with Apple by opening stores wherever Apple has stores. It has a way to go but there is an Apple store in the Mission Viejo Mall, says the Journal.
