Sandisk Ships 32 GB MicroSD Card

Bigger is always better when it comes to flash media cards, and Sandisk has begun shipping the highest-capacity microSD cards ever. 32 GB can now fit on your fingertip.

Consumers can now go to Sandisk.com and order a 32 GB microSDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) for around $200. The product is also available to OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) so that they can pack-in the high capacity cards with cell phones and other mobile devices.

Sandisk, the definitive market share leader in flash memory cards, is the first in the world to begin shipping a microSD card with this much capacity.

“With the large volume of photos, videos and music that consumers create and carry around, a high-capacity memory card is a must-have component of today’s smartphone,” said Sandisk’s COO Sanjay Mehrotra.

Only products that accept microSDHC formats are compatible with the new high-capacity unit. Anything that only accepts regular microSD or TransFlash will not accept the 32GB card.
