Samsung says it managed to clinch a whopping three million Galaxy S II (global) pre-orders.
The stats are a definite success for Samsung’s dual-core (1.2 GHz) Android-powered smartphone, which was snapped up by 120,000 South Korean customers in just a few days.
Although the corporation projected orders would eventually increase, initial expectations have clearly been exceeded.
As such, Samsung remains on track to sell at least 10 million Galaxy S II handsets in 2011.
The huge number of pre-orders for the Galaxy S II is likely due to the fact that the smartphone is one of the fastest on the market. Of course, the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display is another feature attracting customers like a magnet.
While demand for the handset may eventually decrease with the launch of HTC’s Sensation and Apple’s iPhone 5, one thing is certain: Samsung is experiencing massive growth in the smartphone segment.
