Rumor: Apple prepping iSlate for January 27 event

John Paczkowski of Digital Daily reports that Apple has scheduled a media event at the San Francisco Yerba Buena Center on January 27, 2010.

“So, that rumored Apple event everyone has been jawing about these past few weeks? It’s on and it’s going to be a big deal,” writes Paczkowski.

“Sources in a position to know tell me Apple is indeed planning a media event later this month at which the company will announce a major new product. [There is] no definitive word on what that product is, but I think we all have a pretty good idea of what to expect.”

As TG Daily previously reported, the ex-president of Google China recently claimed that Club Cupertino’s upcoming iSlate will feature a 10.1-inch screen, webcam and an “awesome UI.”

“The Apple Tablet looks like a bigger iPhone that sports an awesome UI packed in a beautiful 10.1-inch screen,” Kaifu Lee wrote in a blog post.

“The tablet combines the functions of both netbook and kindle, an ebook reader. It has virtual keyboard for text entry and a webcam for video conferencing.”

Meanwhile, AppleInsider notes that Club Cupertino had “plans” for a virtual keyboard with a dynamic surface that would offer users tactile feedback when typing in order to identify individual keys.

In addition, iPhone developers were reportedly told to prepare their apps for an upcoming demo that would run at full-screen resolutions, rather than the standard 320×480 iPhone format.
