Apple’s iOS App Store continues to grow at a rapid pace, with Cupertino approving more than 500,000 applications for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
To commemorate the milestone, a trio of game publishers – 148apps, Chomp and Chillingo – created a large infograph depicting additional details about the wildly popular online store.
For example, the average price for an app is $3.64, while 37 percent of all applications are free.
In addition, it would cost $891,982.24 and over 7 terabytes to purchase all applications available in the App Store – where Angry Birds has managed to hold on to the No. 1 spot for 275 days.
Despite its wide lead in the apps market, Apple is unlikely to rest on its laurels anytime soon.
To be sure, Cupertino appears poised to clinch a lucrative deal with music studios for a cloud-centric iTunes service.
“Negotiations between Apple and music publishers have begun in earnest only recently but the amount of money that separates the two sides from reaching a deal is relatively small, according to two sources with knowledge of the talks,” explained CNET’s Greg Sandoval.
“That said, these are cloud-licensing contracts, which are new and complex and there’s still several ways Apple’s service could be delayed, insiders say.” Nevertheless, hopes are reportedly hight that Apple will manage to snag all the required licenses by the Worldwide Developers Conference on June 6.
