Irvine (CA) – Toshiba is to launch the world’s first 64GB SDXC Memory Card compliant with the new UHS104 SD Memory Standard. The company also has new 32GB and 16GB SDHC cards supporting the new standard which allows read speeds of up to 60MB/sec.
Samples of the new SDXC cards will be available this November, with samples of the new SDHC cards following in December. Volume production of both types is scheduled for Spring 2010.
The company says the SDXC and SDHC cards are the first to meet the SD Memory Card Standard Version 3.00, UHS104 published earlier this year, which offers write speeds of up to 35MB/sec, making them suitable for applications such as digital SLRs and camcorders that require high bandwidths. Toshiba says it will be possible to download a 2.4GB video file in 70 seconds.
Pricing was not revealed, although the cards will weigh in at 2.1 grams.
