Seoul (Korea) – Korean electronics giant Samsung said it has introduced a 500 GB hard drive with the ability to last longer in tougher conditions.
The Spinpoint M7 will be sold in 250 GB, 320 GB, 400 GB and 500 GB capacities and boasts a rugged base and cover, giving an estimated shock tolerance of 400 G/2ms.
The controller, it’s claimed, will lower power consumption in seek mode by up to 25% compared to the competition. It comes with 8 MB cache, a 3 Gbps S-ATA interface, and spins around at 5400 RPM.
Samsung is already sampling to OEMs, and the units are already shipping in the USA and Europe.
