It may not win against the iPad in a sexy contest, but Panasonic’s new CF-H2 can hold its own in just about any other competition.
Under the hood, it has an Intel Core i5-2557M ULV processor with a speed of 1.7 GHz. With an Intel HD 3000 graphics chip and vPro technology, Panasonic says it is 400% more powerful than its predecessor, the CF-H1.
There’s 2 GB of RAM with the ability to upgrade to as much as 8 GB, and the included hard drive allows storage of 160 GB. The battery has a reported run time of 6.5 hours.
But all of that pales in comparison to the device’s design and manufacturing. As Panasonic has become quite famous (or perhaps even infamous) for, this rugged tablet can withstand the elements and then some.
Made specifically for people who work out in the field – or perhaps those who just really tend to abuse their electronics – the CF-H2 is equipped to survive drops, kicks, being stepped on, getting submerged in water, and all of the usual wear and tear.
It also packs in Panasonic’s exclusive Transreflective technology that allows it to work well in outdoor and other brightly lit environments.
And it only weighs about 3.5 pounds. With a 10.1-inch display, it’s in line with many other of the most popular tablets on the market, including the iPad. It can be handled with one hand, and includes a stylus for precise controls with the other hand.
It’s launching this month (worldwide) for $3,449.
