LG Electronics has added the more affordable LG Sol (LG-E730) to its Optimus lineup, which boasts many of the same features as other Optimus handsets.
The smartphone is dubbed Sol because of its high clarity display which allows the user to read content on the screen even if it’s bright outside.
“The Optimus Sol stands out from its competitors as the most affordable 1 GHz Android smartphone with an AMOLED display,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
“By introducing a no-nonsense phone that boasts one of the best displays on the market, we think we have a real winner for consumers looking for a subtle but visually stunning phone.
Indeed, the device boasts a thickness of only 9.8mm and offers a full-fledged web browsing experience due to its 1GHz CPU. It also handles Flash 10.1 on a 3.8-inch WVGA Ultra AMOLED display with a wide range of visual colors.
The handset uses an improved idle-based power regulation system that extends battery life by 20 to 30 percent. When the Dark UI is being used, the Optimus Sol displays less white light so that the battery life lasts longer.
The phone also features a few other goodies that will attract techies, like a 5.0MP camera that supports rapid picture taking, DLNA and Wi-Fi Direct.
This new phone will be available in Europe in mid-September, and will make its way to Central and South America. Unfortunately, there is no time table for a launch in the United States.
