A very buoyant fourth quarter of 2009 for PC shipments has had a knock on effect on DRAM manufacturers, forecasting better things ahead in the new year.
According to DRAM Exchange, while sales of DRAM will drop in January because of the Chinese new year, the level at which sales will drop is far lower than in January this year.
Orders from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs) mean that production lines will be in full operation during the Chinese new year.
That’s partly due to good sales of netbooks and the introduction of Intel’s Calpella.
Windows 7 has helped boost sales of memory but notebook shipments are likely to have grown by nearly 12 percent in the fourth quarter of this year.
