Toshiba’s 4K Ultrabook has a $1500 price tag

Toshiba’s upcoming Satellite P55t Ultrabook is one of the first laptops to feature a 3840 x 2160 pixel display.

The device, slated to launch in the US on April 22, is equipped with a 15.6-inch, 4K Ultra HD display and a starting price of $1500.

Additional features and specs include a 1TB hard drive, support for up to 16GB of RAM, Harman Kardon stereo speakers, Intel’s Core i7 Haswell processor, AMD Radeon R9 M265X graphics with 2GB of dedicated video memory, 802.11ac WiFi, four USB 3.0 ports and a UHS-II SD card slot.

However, as Liliputing’s Brad Linder notes, it’s really the 4K dislay and support for 4K video output that helps distinguish Toshiba’s new Satellite from the overcrowded laptop/ultrabook market.

”The touchscreen display has 282 pixels per inch and edge-to-edge glass,” he explained.

“And while the $1500 starting price is a bit high for a Windows laptop, the notebook is actually much cheaper than an entry-level 15 inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, even though Apple’s laptop has a lower resolution, 2880 x 1800 pixel screen.”
