Report: Samsung prepping new Note device

Samsung’s Galaxy Note devices are currently available in two primary sizes – 5.5-inches (smartphone form factor) and 10.1-inches (tablet).

Unsurprisingly, the industry heavyweight is reportedly prepping another variant of its popular Note, which is characterized by a digital S-Pen accessory that allows users to easily write or draw on the screen.

According to SamMobile, Samsung’s newest Note will be the 8-inch GT-N5100, which is like to be available in two versions – a 3G/Wifi iteration and a WiFi only model.

The specs sound fairly respectable indeed, and include a 8.0” 1280×800 TFT (Super Clear LCD) display, 5 megapixel back camera, 1.3 megapixel front camera, 2 GB RAM, 16/32 internal + Micro SD slot, Bluetooth, USB 2.0 and A-GPS.

Dimensions and weight? 211.3×136.3×7.95 mm and 330g. As expected, the device is loaded with Jelly Bean (4.2) the latest iteration of Google’s Android OS, although the processor make and speed remains unknown.

Current Note devices on the market include the Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II and Galaxy Note 10.1.

The 8-inch GT-N5100 reportedly remains on track to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Spain this February.
