Maingear touts slick Nomad 15 gaming laptop

Maingear’s Nomad 15 is a slick gaming laptop.

Maingear has rolled out a new gaming laptop with plenty of power that is still compact enough to take with you on the go. Dubbed the Nomad 15, the device comes hot on the heels of the Nomad 17 which was introduced last month.

The Nomad 15 boasts a wide range of spec options, including processors from the third-generation Intel Core i7 line (up to a quad-core 3.8 GHz Core i7), while the default discrete graphics is the Nvidia GTX 670M.

The machine can also be optioned with the GTX 675MX or the Nvidia GTX 680M GPU. All three discrete graphics cards support Nvidia Optimus technology, esssentially saving power by switching between the discrete Nvidia GPU and integrated Intel HD Graphics when needed. Plus, the  The Nomad 15 also supports overclocking of the GPU at the touch of a button to increase performance by up to 8%.

The gaming notebook can be equipped with up to 32 GB of RAM, along with a number of storage options, such as hard drives, SSDs and RAID.  The display measures 15.5-inches, with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080.

The machine is also designed to accomodate a Blu-ray burner and features wired and wireless networking technology from Killer Networks. Power comes from a nine-cell lithium polymer battery.

Pricing for the machine starts at $1549 – with an Intel Core i7 3740QM processor, GeForce GTX 670MX discrete card, 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 and 750GB 7200 rpm HDD.
