This Rikomagic ARM netbook runs Android & Linux

The Allwinner A10 chipset – which features an ARM Cortex-A8 processor – currently powers a number of Android devices, including the MK802 PC on a stick, the ZaReason tablet and Hackberry A10 dev board.

And now the A10 chipset has tipped up in an ARM-powered netbook manufactured by the UK-based Rikomagic.

Alongside the ARM Cortex-A8 1GHz processor, the device boasts a 10 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1GB of RAM and 4GB-8GB of built-in storage.

Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is loaded on the internal storage module, but as Brad Linder of Liliputing points out, you can also easily boot Ubuntu 12.04 or another Linux-based OS from an SD card.

Additional features include a full-sized SD card slot, WiFi, 3 USB ports, Ethernet, audio jacks, a 1MP camera and 6 hours of battery life.

Rikomagic says the device – which seems based on Panda’s ARM-powered $141 H6 netbook – will likely appeal to devs and modders, rather than mainstream consumers.

Nevertheless, it should be noted that hardware graphics acceleration isn’t yet working for Ubuntu. Still,  all seems fine with YouTube, Netflix and local video playback when using Android.

Launch date and price remain unclear, althoug Rikomagic will likely be priced in the same range as its $141 H6 netbook cousin from Panda.
