This is an ideal option if you want a great stimulant with low calories. But be sure not to drink the entire bottle.

2. It is good for the heart

Many studies have been done on this drink. Among them is a published study in the British Journal of Nutrition and Reading University. They revealed that champagne is good for blood circulation and the heart. Two glasses a day has a tremendous effect on how the blood vessels function. This in turn reduces the risks of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke.

Polyphenol, a plant chemical present in red grapes and white grapes is relatively high in these grapes but low in champagne. When you pop that bottle and trickle its pleasurable fizzle, polyphenols are absorbed in the bloodstream. Polyphenols then slow down the absorption of nitric oxide from the blood. Nitric oxide that is prevalent in high levels in the blood consequently increases the blood flow by dilating the blood vessels. This can decrease blood pressure and clotting of the blood.

3. It can keep diabetes at bay

Diabetes is a rampant lifestyle disease associated with the inability of the body to produce insulin. So if your family has a history of diabetes, you might consider sipping a little more champagne sporadically.

Dry wines, especially the sparkling, have the lowest levels of carbohydrates. A study in Canada shows that champagne can lower the risk of getting diabetes type 2 to 13 percent.

5. It improves the short term memory

Moderate consumption of champagne influences cognitive functioning such as the memory. This was proven by scientists at Reading University about two years ago. Some rats were given some bubbly daily for six weeks and then they were required to complete a maze. Their performance increased from the initial 50 per cent to 70 per cent.

Champagne contains some protein content that benefits the short term memory and delays the onset of Alzheimer’s and dementia. These two are degenerative illnesses.
