Whether you love the Terminator series, or are tired of it, another Terminator’s on the way, and Arnold will be back. Terminator: Genesis is currently up for a summer 2015 release, and the star himself confirmed the movie will be shooting in New Orleans next month.
Some details of the plot may also have leaked out. The site Moviehole claims the story could be jumping around in time, ala Back to the Future Part II, weaving its way through the previous Terminator stories. So this means the movie will go back to the events of the first Terminator in 1984, and the second one in 1991.
In the age of CGI, these kind of flashbacks can probably be done a lot more seamlessly, but we’re also hoping it won’t hurt our memories of the original films. Oddly enough, one rumor had it Genesis would be going back to the fifties, possibly to prevent Sarah Connor from being born, and it would make an interesting contrast to have the Terminator wandering around during that time period.
Schwarzenegger is especially excited to be back, “the script is fantastic,” and David Ellison, son of Oracle founder Larry Ellison, is producing. “Ellison, who has produced all the big movies lately, has plenty of money to do it as well,” Ah-nold continued.
