You may recall there was a bit of a cliffhanger when Avengers Age of Ultron was coming together. It took a while to confirm Joss Whedon as the writer and director, but he was finally signed on, and is directing Ultron right now as we report this.
While Whedon may not be thinking about Avengers 3 right now, especially considering he’s got his hands full, he may indeed be coming back for Avengers 3, which is apparently going to be part of Marvel’s phase three of superhero flicks. It would be hard to imagine Avengers without Whedon at the helm, just like you can’t imagine anyone else but Robert Downey Jr playing Iron Man.
As Collider reports, Guy Pearce, who we know from Iron Man and Memento, was asked about the possibility of some loose story ends being tied up in another Iron Man movie, and offhand he mentioned Whedon directing Avengers 3. While Collider speculated this could have just been an off-hand comment, we’re curious if Marvel already has him signed up for the next one. (Whedon’s deal with Marvel runs five years, and in addition to Avengers 2, he’s also consulting behind the scenes on other Marvel films.)
So it would be great if Whedon would do all three Avengers flicks, let’s concentrate on one thing at a time. Avengers Age of Ultron will be in theaters, and should make a bout a kajillion dollars, on May 1, 2015.
