While gaming went in the toilet during the recession, just like everything else did, the video game market has been making big comeback strides in the last two years with the success of Halo 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops, GTA V, and more. And now one report tells us Nintendo could be on the verge of a big comeback as well.
Nintendo, who many wrote off as a relic of the eighties, had a terrible year in 2013 where many left the company for dead. Bu they recently got high marks for their reinvention of their classic Mario Brothers characters in Super Mario 3D World of game, and now Fox News feels 2014 could be a huge year for the company.
As Nintendo’s vice president of corporate affairs told the site, “We’re feeling really good about our ability to compete,” and the company’s Wii U sales are going up.
Not to mention Nintendo games are much more family friendly than titles like Call of Duty and GTA. Fox News thinks that the upcoming games Nintendo has for 2014 like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and Mario Kart 8, as well as the Nintendo Wii U console, could all do very well in 2014. The console wars between PlayStation 4 and Xbox One should continue to rage into next year, but maybe Nintendo can prove to be major players again as well.
