Okay, okay, so the world hasn’t been taking the news of Ben Affleck playing Batman very well. We also get the distinct impression that a Batman Vs Superman movie isn’t such a smart idea. We know what the general public thinks, no big news flash there, but what does Adam West think?
As Entertainment Weekly reports, West, along with another former Batman, Val Kilmer, took to Twitter, to give Ben some advice and encouragement. “Remember Ben,” West tweeted, “with the cape and cowl comes great responsibility (and lots of heat). Bring deodorant.” Kilmer’s reaction? “Give Ben a chance!”
Long time Bat-fans should remember that for many years the fans weren’t happy that Batman was given a campy approach back in the day. A lot of fans today who grew up with the darker Christian Bale Batman don’t really get the ‘60’s show either, thinking it’s just too silly, even though it was our gateway drug to the Batman we know and love today.
We at TGD don’t feel there’s only one approach to Batman, and we like him dark or silly (just not George Clooney era Batman and Robin silly, okay?). We do hope that Affleck can bring the Dark Knight justice, although after the Christian Bale / Christopher Nolan reinvention, he’s definitely got his work cut out for him.
