Exciting lineups have been announced this week, and we can’t wait for this year’s festival circuit to begin!
The lineup for this year’s 11th annual Bonnaroo Music Festival was fittingly released on Valentine’s Day. Fans swooned at the amazing lineup, featuring headliners such as Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phish, Beach Boys, Bon Iver, The Shins and Skrillex. Oh yes, it’s going to be a party.
Taking place June 7-10 in Manchester, Tennessee, the expansive festival will sport 13 stages and host over 125 bands. There will definitely be all different types of genres present at this year’s fest. On top of the massive amount of bands already set to play, more musicians and comedians will be announced soon. Brace yourselves, because tickets will be available on Bonnaroo’s website this Saturday.
Quite a unique bird, The Hangout Festival has also released the lineup for their 3rd annual festival. Unlike any other, The Hangout Festival will take place on Alabama’s Gulf Shores May 18-20, the first music fest to take on the sandy beaches of Alabama. The lineup is pretty awesome, including Jack White, Dave Matthews Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wilco and The Flaming Lips.
With the sparkling Gulf in your peripherals and amazing music in your ears, what’s not to love? Three-day and VIP passes went on sale February 10th, and are still up for grabs on the festival’s website.
Shortly after reuniting for a nostalgic Grammy performance this week, the Beach Boys announced a summer tour in celebration of their 50th anniversary. Their reunion tour will mark the first pop band to reach a 50th anniversary reunion, and will feature Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks. Reportedly, this will be some of the band’s first performances in 20 years.
With age and rest out of the question, the band has scheduled a hefty 40 dates throughout the U.S. and Canada, commencing the tour in Arizona and closing it out in Nevada. With a Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award and a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame under their belt, the Beach Boys are legends that deserve to be seen once more, and they’re surely coming to a town near you!
Jack White has been making the news often in recent weeks, with his new solo album Blunderbuss creating buzz. After releasing a single off his new album, “Love Interruption,” White additionally released a video for the single as well.
The video captures the essence of White in all his dark, god-like glory, and also features Nashville-based singer/songwriter Ruby Amanfu. Blunderbuss drops April 23rd, and in support of his new effort, White has scheduled a few tour dates. For the first time, White will headline a couple music festivals as a solo act. Stopping in Oklahoma March 15th for a performance, could an impromptu appearance at this year’s SXSW Festival be a possibility? We can only hope!
In more tangible, materialistic music news, Tomahawk plans to release all three of their albums on vinyl for April 23rd’s Record Store Day. The three albums will reportedly comprise a vinyl set titled “Eponymous to Anonymous,” and will also have a spot open for the band’s upcoming fourth record.
Formed in 2000, Tomahawk is a rock supergroup made up of Duane Denison, Mike Patton, John Stanier and Trevor Dunn. Together they’ve produced 3 albums, Tomahawk, Mit Gas and Anonymous.”Eponymous to Anonymous” will be released by Tomahawk in honor of Record Store Day, a celebratory day created in 2007 to bring about music appreciation.
