The X-Men movies took a big turn for the worse when director Bryan Singer left. It’s often important to stay with the same filmmakers that keep a franchise’s vision alive, and we’re curious to see how the Avengers will fare without Joss Whedon.
In the meantime, Singer is back with X-Men, and he’s following up Days of Future Past with Apocalypse in 2017. Collider reported a rumor that Singer may be done with the X-Men movies soon, and we can understand a director not wanting to be stuck in one franchise for life, but again, without Singer, the X-Men just haven’t been the same.
As for what we can expect from Apocalypse, where the main villain is, you guessed it, Apocalypse, Singer told Empire and the Hollywood Reporter, “It’s a big monster of a movie. The stakes are so high and global and the villain is so mythic. It’s definitely an X-Men movie, but really feels different.”
As far as whether this could be Singer’s last go round with Marvel’s famous mutants, Collider reported this is a rumor, and as we all know Hugh Jackman is leaving after Wolverie 3 as well. Since this could be the end of Singer’s universe, will the whole thing be rebooted again with all new people? Not sure if that would work, and maybe it would be best if Singer and Jackman really leave the franchise with a big bang indeed.
