Quentin Tarantino is currently filming his latest movie, The Hateful Eight, which is a western, and it’s scheduled to come out on November 13. While the guy loves movies of all genres, he’s a huge fan of spaghetti westerns, which of course came from Italy.
So Uproxx listed Tarantino’s favorite spaghetti westerns, and the first one wasn’t hard to guess, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Django, a popular name with Mr. T, is third on the list, and number five on the list is absolutely one of the best westerns ever made, another Sergio Leone classic, Once Upon a Time in the West.
In Tarantino’s top ten is one of my personal favorites, a great revenge film called Death Rides a Horse, which starred spaghetti western perennial Lee Van Cleef, and sixties actor John Philip Law. Also on the list are A Pistol For Ringo, Shoot the Living Pray For the Dead (these movies had great titles, I especially love God Forgives, I Don’t), and Machine Gun Killers.
If you love great westerns, spaghetti or not, we also recommend watching the original Stagecoach, The Wild Bunch, and Fistful of Dynamite (aka Duck You Sucker) as well.
As for The Hateful Eight, it stars many Tarantino regulars like Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, and Michael Madsen, along with Channing Tatum, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, and Bruce Dern, and again, for Tarantino fanatics, it’s currently slated for a November 13 release.
