Why No Loki in Avengers Age of Ultron

Avengers Age of Ultron is finally in theaters, and by the time you read this, it will be well on its way to making a ridiculous amount of money in the States. It’s already made over $00 million overseas, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it quickly passes the billion dollar mark worldwide.

While we haven’t seen the movie yet, apparently the villain from the first installment, Loki, isn’t in this one. After all, it’s Ultron’s movie this time, and as Joss Whedon explained to MTV and the AV Club, they did shoot scenes with Loki, but they wound up on the cutting room floor.

“We did shoot something, and it didn’t play,” Whedon said. “The movie has so much. It’s so filled. We didn’t want it to feel overstuffed. I really wanted to have Loki in it, but I understood the decision that there were now too many voices in the chorus…At some point the embarrassment of riches is actually embarrassing.”

While some feel that Ultron is a bit overstuffed as it is, it’s always a risk with a superhero movie, especially one with a team of heroes. Yet if you gotta have some more Loki in your life, he’ll be returning in Thor: Ragnarok in July 2017.
