Intel said that it and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) have settled all outstanding legal disputes between them – including litigation and patent disputes.
A joint statement said: “While the relationship between the two companies has been difficult in the past, this agreement ends the legal disputes and enables the companies to focus all of our efforts on product innovation and development.”
The two firms get patent rights from a new five year cross license agreement. AMD will give up any claims of breach from the previous agreement. Intel will pay AMD $1.25 billion.
AMD will drop all cases including the antitrust case in Delaware and two cases pending in Japan. AMD will also withdraw regulatory complaints worldwide. A webcast is pending. We’ll update this story soon.
