The east coast is going to be rocked this July when Weezer, The Flaming Lips and Yeasayer team up to perform in both the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, and the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, NY. While each band will continue to tour on their own throughout the summer, these two venues will house a unique collaborative event that may not soon be repeated.
The newest Radiohead album, The King of Limbs, will be performed this summer in Nigel Godrich’s From the Basement. This lone, July 1, event will feature Radiohead performing the full album, and because no tour to back The King of Limbs, has been planned, this event is one not to miss.
If you can’t make the actual performance fear not – the BBC Worldwide Music Television has your back and will air a 55 minute special on the show called “The King of Limbs: Live From the Basement.” It looks like this event will be “so very special.”
The Germen digital hardcore rock group, Atari Teenage Riot, announced the release of its new album “Is This Hyperreal?” After the album’s release on June 7, the band will tour North America with the kick off this September.
Hype for the album has been stirring as band member Alec Empire, reportedly commented that, “The new ATR album investigates hacker activism, governments and corporations trying to take over the Internet with regulations, thus destroying its freedom.” Definitely sounds like a good serving of hyperreal to us.
The industrial music collaboration started by rising star, Sasha Grey will live on in an upcoming album. The album includes 30 songs involving demos and mix tape tracks that reach back 22 years. With the release of this new album, Grey has the chance to prove she’d more than just a pretty face.
The main pioneer of the musical mashup movement, DJ Z Trip, paid a tribute to the Beastie Boys. Z Trip sampled from the Beastie Boys’ entire albums all in anticipation of the band’s highly anticipated new release. Z-Trip will be touring throughout the summer.
