PSX emulator axed from Android Market, Xperia Play FTW!

The app allowed nostalgic gamers to play classic (original) Playstation titles on their Android-powered smartphones.

According to PSX4Droid developer “Zodttd,” the emulator was officially axed without warning due to a “Content Policy violation.”

However, Zodttd speculates the deletion had more to do with Sony’s upcoming launch of its long-awaited Playstation Phone.

“Sony’s Xperia Play must be coming soon,” he tweeted.

“The timing is suspicious with no remedy.”

Sure, it is kind of annoying that Google went and removed the emulator, because there are a good number of gamers out there who genuinely enjoyed playing old PSX titles on their shiny new Android smartphones.

Then again, the real thing and more will be coming soon enough, when Sony’s Xperia Play hits the street.
