Core FPS fans across the world are eagerly awaiting the launch of Crysis 2 in March. But can the game be played – smoothly – on current PCs?
Well, Crytek has finally published a list of minimum system requirements on its official German Facebook page.
And fortunately, it seems as if the restless masses will not be forced to shell out wads of cash just to play the long-awaited sequel.
IMHO, the system requirement specs are actually surprisingly reasonable, which is a good thing, actually, because I really wasn’t looking forward to picking up a tricked-out $3,000+ rig just for Crysis 2, as much as I dearly love the franchise and all things FPS.
So, here are the required system specs (via BluesNews):
- OS: XP / Vista / Windows 7
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz, AMD Athlon 64 X2 2Ghz or better
- 2 GB RAM
- Hard Drive: 9 GB
- DVD ROM: 8x
- GPU: nVidia 8800GT 512Mb RAM, ATI 3850HD 512Mb RAM or better
- Audio: DirectX 9.0c-compatible
- Keyboard, Mouse or the Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows
Of course, I realize that these requirements are the bare minimum, which is to say gameplay will probably be reasonable, say with minimal lag and drag, but not totally kick-ass.
For example, I personally wouldn’t play Crysis with anything less than 4 GB of RAM, and yeah, I’d probably want to upgrade to a better video card, but it is still good to know that Crytek is looking out for the FPS masses.
