It’s time to check in on the world of music with the weekly Unplugging column. This week we feature stories about Faith No More, Massive Attack and more!
Faith No More seems to be all about their fans. Instead of doing proper press, they answered questions submitted by the bands three most prevalent fan groups – stubbadub, Faith No More 2.0, and Faith No More French Community. The group answered the questions in an informal setting and filmed it for fans to enjoy. The interview is pretty revealing, letting listeners in on the band’s future plans, thoughts on their reunion tour, and their choice for no PR. This is Faith No More’s only formal interview and it’s given directly to who matters most – the fans.
Massive Attack has announced that all of the proceeds from their upcoming Lincoln car commercial will be donated to clean-up efforts in the Gulf of Mexico, particularly the organization Save Our Gulf. The commercial will feature the track “Paradise Circus” – Massive Attack’s first track featured in an advertisement. Toms Waits has been nominated for the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, along with the Beastie Boys, Neil Diamond, Bon Jovi, and Donovan. The induction ceremony will be at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. The finalized list of inductees will be release in September.
Live in the Los Angeles area? Bass Player Live!, the event for everything bass-related, will be taking place in LA on October 23-24. Clinics, exhibitions, and and workshops will be taking place, as well as performances by Bootsy Collins and Alphonso Johnson as they receive “Lifetime Achievement” Awards.
New music this week includes Brian Eno’s new track “2 Forms of Anger”, from his upcoming album Small Craft on a Milk Sea, out November 2nd. Eno has also released a few photos from the screen-printing process for the Collector’s Series release of the new album. Also, The Gorillaz revealed a preview of their upcoming video for the Plastic Beach track “Rhinestone Eyes” in the form of a storyboard music video that features art by Jamie Hewlett.

Massive Attack to Donate Commercial Money to Gulf Cleanup Efforts: Massive Attack announced that all of the proceeds from their upcoming Lincoln car commercial will be donated to clean-up efforts in the Gulf of Mexico (Save Our Gulf). Lincoln will feature “Paradise Circus,” a remix track that comes from Massive Attack’s most recent album Heligoland – and this will be Massive Attacks first track featured in an advertisement. The commercial premieres this weekend in the US.
