The long-running Sidekick product line has finally reached its end, as T-Mobile plans to discontinue the remaining 2 Sidekick models and end its relationship with the product’s manufacturer.
However, the Sidekick name is likely not going anywhere. Instead, T-Mobile will rebrand it and go with another manufacturer. Regardless, effective immediately, the Sidekick LX and the Sidekick 2008 are no longer being sold.
“While we work on the next chapter of our storied Sidekick franchise, T-Mobile will continue to provide our loyal Sidekick customers with product service and support. Stay tuned for exciting updates in the months ahead, which we expect will provide customers with a new and fresh experience,” said T-Mobile in a Cnet story.
The demise of the current Sidekick design comes just a day after Microsoft canceled its Kin phones. It is a one-two punch for Microsoft-owned Danger, as the company worked on both the Sidekick and Kin product lines.
