Nvidia’s sleek, dual-core Tegra 2 prototype tablet has taken center stage at Google’s I/O conference.
According to iSlate, the Android-based device is powered by a 1Ghz Tegra 2 platform which combines a dual core Cortex A9 ARM-based processor with Nvidia graphics.
The tablet also features a capacitive multi-touch 8.9 inch widescreen (WSVGA) display (720p HD), 1 GB of RAM, WiFi, webcam, microphone, accelerometer mic and headphone jacks.
In addition, the device boasts 2 USB ports, an SD card slot, micro SD card slot, along with a SIM card slot for easy 3G access.
“The Cortex A9 has about 25 percent more power than the A8 chip present [in] the iPad, but bear in mind that with more power, RAM and USB ports means less battery life which was the problem with the discontinued HP Slate and all the high powered tablets that have been announced so far,” explained iSlate’s Nick Schooler.
“[Still], the Tegra 250 chipset from Nvidia is likely to feature in other tablet devices such as the Notion Ink Adam and the ICD Ultra. A variant of the chipset could be present on the Nintendo 3DS gaming device as well.”
