Finnish phone giant Nokia said that it is to reduce the number of people that work in its R&D division – with 330 people affected in Denmark and Finland.
Nokia said that this number only represents two percent of its R^D personnel globally. And no one will be actually laid off, it seems – it said that it will try and find as many alternative jobs for the affected employees as it can.
It will also offer voluntary severance packages if it’s not possible to relocate all the jobs.
Nokia maintains a massive R&D presence despite this streamlining exercise – it has over 17,000 people employed worldwide in the division.
