Infinity Ward has claimed that the Nintendo Wii is incapable of delivering the “cinematic experience” required for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
?
“If we felt like we could deliver the cinematic experience we were going for on other platforms, then we would gladly move to that platform,” company spokesman Robert Bowling told Develop. “Right now, we don’t think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that we’re doing. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it’s not equal then we won’t do it.”
Meanwhile, Japanese Wii sales have dipped below 50,000 units per week, which recently prompted Nintendo president Satoru Iwata to admit that the situation “cannot be defined as healthy.”
According to Iwata, Japanese consumers have failed to respond to Wii price cuts as expected.
“The price cut seems to have the least impact here than other parts of the world,” Iwata said in a statement to investors obtained by Gamasutra. “It is our urgent mission to recover the momentum of Wii during the holidays, utilizing Nintendo’s strength.”??
