Japanese giant Panasonic has created a robot that will dole out drugs to patients and that’s set to happen very soon.
According to an exclusive story on nikkei.net, the robot will help pharmacists complete prescriptions. The robot will be available in just a few months time.
Nikkei says that the robot will be connected to electronic medical records and will scuttle around Japanese hospitals picking the prescriptions for the patients. The report says that in a hospital with 400 beds, the Panasonic report will finish the job in two hours, compared to the four hours it will take for a skilled pharmacist to complete the task/
The robots will be sold in Europe and the USA too, and Panasonic apparently has plans to develop other medical robots that will help the elderly and ailing move around.
Japan, according to the CIA World Fact Book, has a population of 127 million people, 22.2 percent of whom are over the age of 65 years. The median age is 44.2 years.
