San Francisco (CA) –Apple has confirmed that iPhone 3.0 will offer over 100 new features, including MMS support for photos, contacts, audio files and map locations. In addition, the new OS is slated to provide iPhone owners with advanced Bluetooth and USB tethering support. iPhone 3.0 is also expected to facilitate “faster” javascript access, along with support for streaming HTTP audio/video.
According to Apple, 3.0 adds parental controls for in-app purchases, movies and television shows. The upgraded OS is apparently capable of functioning through firewalls, while automatically selecting an appropriate bandwith rate.
Other features include:
- Autofill
- HTML 5 for audio/video tags
- New language support for Greek, Korean, Thai, Hebrew and Arabic
- Lost iPhone GPS locator and remote wipe command
- Advanced search: calendars, music, notes, email
- iTunes – rent and purchase movies
- Support for audio books, music videos, TV shows
- Embed Google maps in apps via a Cocoa control
- Push notifcation service for developers
