Now that Jurassic World is officially the third highest grossing movie of all time, announcement of the sequel isn’t any big surprise, and it has a 2018 estimated time of arrival.
We figured these plans were in place when the first one was being made, although there was always the possibility the film could flop, but the tracking was pretty strong before release, and now Collider tells us the next installment will be in theaters on June 22, 2018.
Chris Pratt will of course be back, and so will Bryce Dallas Howard, not to mention tons of CGI dinosaurs creating mayhem. Colin Trevorrow has said he won’t be back to direct the sequel, but he will be co-writing the script.
Again, with such huge box office, a sequel was a given, and Vulture wondered if it could potentially “break more records.” We don’t think it could overshadow its current box office insanity, but we’re willing to bet if it even makes half of Jurassic World’s current take, Universal should be pretty happy.
