It’s no big shock that there’s a sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy in the works, and it’s currently slated for a May 5, 2017 release. We at TG feel that if superhero flicks have a future, it should be with smaller, less known titles like Guardians, which have less familiarity to audiences, but can become sleeper hits.
So director James Gunn just gave and update on the next Guardians flick, telling People the next one will be “a more emotional movie.” To apparently prove the point, Chris Pratt has told the press reading the new script made him cry.
Gunn also said that with the next Guardians, “you get to learn a lot about fathers in the second movie. I think it’s both a bigger and a smaller movie cause we focus more intensely on some of the characters.”
Gunn also announced that the sequel has a title…Volume 2. Okay, so it’s not that exciting, but it’s news, we guess.
