Now that Ghostbusters 3 is pretty much a go with an all-female bent, we figured the original ‘Busters won’t be back for it, or at least most of them. Yet there was a ‘Busters reunion on the Today Show and Entertainment Weekly, with the one ‘Buster you didn’t think would be there there (and the one ‘Buster you’d think would be there missing.)
Bill Murray, who has famously refused to come back for a third movie, was there, as was Ernie Hudson, director Ivan Reitman, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts, came on Today, and host Al Roker even wore a Ghostbusters jacket.
As Murray told Roker, he didn’t want to come back because “the money’s not right yet.” He was being facetious, of course, because Murray could certainly write his own check if he wants to come back. More seriously, he said, “It’s really hard to recreate something that was so beautiful, so wonderful…I knew it was going to be a huge movie.”
The Busters reunion, with Aykroyd this time, is on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, and it’s nice to see most of the old gang back again.
